Iowa ENT Center Named a Top Workplace in Iowa

Top Workplaces LogoIowa ENT Center, LLC, was recently recognized by the Des Moines Register as one of the Top Five Workplaces in Iowa in the small employers category. These companies have been recognized as Top Workplaces based on surveys about the workplace completed by their employees.

Here’s an excerpt from the Register article, which shares insight into the culture, employee respect and shared values at Iowa ENT Center…

“Building a business from scratch allows you to create your own office culture. At the Iowa ENT Center, that culture is based on mutual respect.

‘We have made a real effort from the time we started our practice on putting value on every worker we have by treating employees with respect,’ said Dr. Simon Wright.

Wright founded the West Des Moines clinic with fellow ear, nose and throat doctors Tim Simplot and Eytan Young in 2012. The three doctors studied together at the University of Minnesota, where they developed a similar value system thanks to a school official who motivated students by showing respect.

‘You get the most out of people by trying to earn their respect,’ he said.

For the doctors at Iowa ENT, that means being accessible, not isolating themselves from staff members and doing little things like saying ‘thank you.’

‘One of the things we try to do is build people up on all levels of the team,’ Wright said. ‘We really try to focus on the team approach.’

Iowa ENT has 35 employees. Workers often face emotional and challenging cases, like patients with cancer, traumatic injuries and hearing loss. One goal, Wright said, is to help all employees realize they play an important role in caring for the patients.

‘There is a shared sense of ownership over patient care so even the person behind the front desk or doing billing or cleaning instruments can feel ownership and take pride in the care we provide our patients,’ he said.”
